National Visa (Visa D) â€“ H.1 Studies

Overview

This visa is for students admitted to Greek higher education institutions to pursue full-time academic programs.

Applicants need to provide proof of admission from the educational institution, evidence of sufficient funds to support themselves (minimum EUR 400 per month), and, if under 18, written parental consent.

Documents Required

Mandatory Documents (Common for National Visa Type D)

  • Completed Visa Application Form– Fully completed and signed, with a recent passport-sized photograph following ICAO guidelines.
  • Valid Passport– Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your stay, issued within the last 10 years with 2 blank pages.
  • Criminal Record Certificate– Official certificate from your country of residence (ACRO/DBS Enhanced Certificate accepted), issued in the last 6 months.
  • Medical Certificate– Issued by a licensed medical professional, confirming you are free from infectious diseases (in line with WHO and EU standards).
  • Proof of Travel Insurance– Covering your stay, with minimum coverage for medical emergencies, hospitalization, and repatriation.
  • UK Residency:UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Specific Documents for Studies in a Greek Higher Education Institution

  • Official Admission Letter–
    • Certificate of enrolment/acceptance from a recognized Greek educational institution.
    • Must confirm the applicant’s registration and course details.
  • Proof of Tuition Payment(if applicable) â€“
    • Receipt of tuition fees paid to the institution.
  • Proof of Financial Resources–
    • Bank statements showing access to at least EUR 400 per month for living expenses.
    • Scholarship certificate (if applicable).
    • Sponsor letter with proof of funds (if supported by a third party).
  • Educational Background Documents–
    • High school diploma or bachelor’s degree (translated and certified).
    • Academic transcripts (if required by the institution).
  • Parental Consent(for applicants under 18) â€“
    • Notarized statement from parent(s)/guardian(s).
    • Must include consent for the study period and travel to Greece.
  • Important:
  • Students with a residence permit for studies in Greece may work part-time (up to 10 hours per week).
  • Visa is valid for the duration of the study programme and can be extended if needed.
  • Family members are not permitted to accompany study visa holders.
